Water from up there

The weather room

This room divulges all the secrets of the Weather through information boards and climate measurement devices.

Noria - ClepsydreNoria - Cycle de l'eau

You will find water in all its states : liquid (lakes, rivers, seas, oceans, ponds,...), solid (glaciers, iceberg) or gaseous (clouds, fog).  The transformations from one state to another are due to variations in temperature.  In this way, by changing state, water makes possible the great cycle which determines and maintains life on earth.

- Different climate measurement devices are presented in this room.

Thanks to all these devices, Noria could edit its on weather forecast, there would just be a satellite needed.
The nearest weather forecast station is the Mont Aigoual in the Gard county – 35 kms from St Jean du Bruel – not far from where the Dourbie river takes its source.

The Cosmos room

This is a small gallery giving access to the rooms.  Its aim is to put the visitor in the atmosphere, to « disconnect » him from the outside world.

The accent is placed on the rarity of water in order to remind the public of his responsibilities to protect harmoniously this indispensable ressource for life.

Noria - Globe terrestreA terrestrial globe, of a diameter of around 1 meter, represents the « blue planet ».
The three walls around the terrestrial globe accommodate stylised « silhouettes » representing the nine planets of the solar system and their satellites.

The volume of water on our planet is made of 97% salted water in the seas and oceans, and of 3% fresh water that can be found for two third of them, in the glaciers and for a third in the lakes, rivers, ground waters, which constitute our main ressource of drinkable water, and living creatures – animals and plants.
